The Local Palate spotlights Bacalar in their Snapshot Austin newsletter

One of the city’s most anticipated new restaurants just opened in the Rainey Street district, just steps from Lady Bird Lake. Bacalar is a concept dreamt up by chef Gabe Erales, winner of Top Chef season 18, and inspired by the Yucatán Peninsula region of Mexico. Bacalar celebrates Mexico’s milpa agriculture system by sustainably sourcing local produce, as well as native ingredients from small communities in Mexico. The bar program focuses on regional agave spirits, complex cocktails, and a wine list featuring a majority of Mexican producers.
